My First Apple Pie!29-Mar-2008
It has been an interesting week.
My cat got to eat her first bird off of the balcony and I baked my first apple pie.
I decided to stop fighting nature and just let Miss Kitty have her wicked way with the bird.
Please do not get me wrong. I love animals but the bird population has been getting out of hand in my area.
I
have gone for walks. Heaven forbid I get too close to a tree and I
might get attacked. Some of these birds are pretty aggressive.
Birds
like to build a nest in the vent that leads to my dryer tube. Once I
had to call maintenance because my dryer was not heating up.
I waited 4 hours just find it was because of a birds nest. It even had eggs in it.
Lately,
I can hear the birds playing in the tubing and making holes in it so
that I have to wrap it with aluminum foil and tape just to retain the
dryer heat.
So if Miss Kitty wants to dine on the balcony then so be it. Who am I to interfere with the call of the wild.
I just did not like the idea of her bringing her prey inside of the house.
I
wrapped her prey in a blanket and picked up Miss Kitty with the other
hand. I shut door so that she would not try to bring her meal back
inside.
"Let me know when you are done!"
Now back to
baking pies. I can understand why a friend (who is in the baking
business) stays so trim. Baking a pie from scratch can be very time
consuming.
But once all the ingredients are prepared and mixed together, the rewards are so sweet.
